Artists >> Sharon Freeman
Award-winning watercolorist, Sharon Freeman was born and raised in Longview, Washington. She majored in fine art and education at Central Washington University and holds a Master's Degree in Education from that University. Sharon taught elementary school art and other subjects in the Kalama, Washington school district for several years.
Sharon studied watercolor with several nationally recognized artists. She is a member of the Northwest Watercolor Society, the California Watercolor Association, and an active member of the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society. Her watercolors have been judged into the California Watercolor Association's Annual Open Watercolor Competition, Watercolor West's Annual Competition and several other juried shows in Washington State. Sharon won awards in the last four Southwest Washington Watercolor Society competitions entered. Her painting "The Meeting Place" won first place in a SWWS competition and the Juror's Award in the California Watercolor Association's 2003 Competition. Sharon's art hangs in public buildings in Washington State.
Sharon's ability to capture light and transparency sets her work apart from other watercolorists. She uses a limited palette with pure colors and layers, thin washes (glazes) to achieve vibrant, glowing color.
